Dave Baute
President, MAIZEX SEEDS
Dave is the Founder and President of MAIZEX, and Soiex Farms Inc. He was raised on a 250-acre cash crop farm and has more than 30 years of agricultural experience and education. He graduated from Ridgetown College, and also studied at The University of Guelph. Throughout his career Dave has been recognized and awarded – for his innovation and leadership – by many industry and government groups. He is the current chairman of the Agri-food Foundation (Ridgetown Campus) and sits on various boards including, The Canadian Seed Trade Association, and the Community Futures Development Corporation of Chatham Kent. He’s also a 25-year member of the Canadian Seed Growers Association, American Seed Trade Association and Canadian Seed Institute.

Ron Hathaway
National Sales Manager
Ron’s education includes an Honours Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from The University of Guelph. He also has his Certified Crop Advisor credentials. His 25 years in the agriculture industry includes 17 years in agricultural retail and four years as an independent agriculture consultant. Ron has been with MAIZEX since 2006, and is currently Vice Chair of the CSTA Corn, Soybeans and Eastern Cereals Committee.

Tim Welbanks
Lead Agronomist Tim is an industry veteran, with more than 30 years experience at some of the most respected companies in the ag industry, including Monsanto, Pioneer Hi-Bred and Northrup King Seeds. He brings this experience to dealers, farmers, staff and management in the development of technical cropping information, including newsletters, catalogues, product presentations, agronomic presentations and new product positioning. Tim has served in many areas of the industry, including President of the Canadian Seed Trade Association, board member at the Canadian Seed Institute and Chairperson for CropLife Canada.

Shawn Winter
Product Development Manager
Shawn grew up on a farm in Southwestern Ontario, and continues to produce corn and soybeans with his family. He is a University of Guelph graduate, with an M.Sc. (Plant Breeding and Genetics) and B.Sc. (Agronomy). He has spent approximately five years in the agricultural industry, the majority of which has been with MAIZEX. Shawn has his Certified Crop Advisor designation and is the Biotech Committee Chair for the CSTA.

Brenda Baute
Chief Financial Officer
Brenda grew up in Smith's Falls Ontario and from a young age was involved in the family meat market there. She met Dave at the university of Guelph and after a short time with the Royal Bank, she helped co-found Maizex. She is currently actively involved in Maizex and Soiex Farms as Chief Financial Officer.

Dave Emery
District Sales Manager, Southwestern Ontario
Dave grew up on a farm in Chatham-Kent and graduated from the University of Guelph with an Environmental Management Diploma and an Agriculture Diploma. He continued on to receive his Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Olds College in Alberta. He’s been involved in grain and seed production since 1999, and has owned and managed his own farm since 2006.

Bill Norman
District Sales Manager, West Central Ontario
Bill was raised on a farm, learning the fundamentals of cropping, livestock and seed production. He received his BSc. in agriculture from the University of Guelph in 1980, and has since held various sales, agronomy and marketing positions in the crop protection and seed industries. Throughout his almost three decades of experience, Bill has worked with Monsanto, Dow AgroSciences, Norac and W.G. Thompson & Sons. He has been a District Sales Manager at MAIZEX since 2003, and is a 20-year member of CropLife, a member of CAMA and of The Ontario Pesticide Education Program Committee.

Kris Martin
District Sales Manager, Ontario Kris was born and raised on a 350 acre dairy and cash crop farm in Brant County. He has over 20 years of agriculture experience and education. He’s a former president of Brant County Soil & Crop Association and former Vice President of Brant County Federation of Agriculture. Kris has served as Ontario Forage Masters Judge in Perth County, Oxford County and Brant County for numerous years. He has 18 years of experience as a District Sales Manager between two companies prior to joining Maizex. He continues to operate Martin Farming Inc a cash crop operation in Brant County. Kris looks forward in continuing to provide good service and sound seed choices in today’s rapidly changing agriculture industry.

Shane Jantzi
District Sales Manager, Niagara, Western and Eastern Canada
Shane grew up working on a dairy cash crop farm in Haldimand County, Ontario. He is a graduate from The University of Guelph (Bachelor of Science), and from The University of Western Ontario (Bachelor of Education). His over 15 years of industry experience includes sales positions with Cargill and Dow AgroSciences. He has been with MAIZEX, in the role of District Sales Manager, since 2001. Shane is an active supporter of local Soil and Crop Associations.

Chad Mangan
District Sales Manager, Eastern Ontario
Chad grew up and worked on a dairy/cash crop farm in Kingston, Ontario. He is a graduate from The University of Guelph, with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Honours in Agriculture Science. Prior to joining MAIZEX he worked for Vaughan Agricultural Pesticide Research, and with Cargill as a Farm Marketing Representative and Grain Marketing Manager. Chad is also a Certified Crop Advisor and has his Pesticide Exterminator License.

Darren McColm
District Sales Manager, Québec Darren grew up on a cash crop farm in Huntingdon, Quebec, and also worked on a dairy farm in St-Isidore, Ontario. While on the family farm, Darren held a Director’s position in an Agro Environmental Farm Club. He went on to graduate from Kemptville College in 1999. After spending four years in various sales roles, Darren joined MAIZEX as a District Sales Manager.

Patrice Bouchard
District Sales Manager, Québec Patrice is a graduate from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and Membre de l’Ordre des Agronomes du Québec. His over 20 years in the agriculture industry includes experience in fertilizers, agricultural chemicals, seed, and agricultural research. He’s been with MAIZEX since 2007. Patrice also works extensively with the Quebec corn trials committee (RGCQ) and is a Member of the American Society of Agronomy.
